BNP Paribas to Pay Up to 600 Million Euros Settlement BNP Paribas has agreed to pay between 400 million and 600 million euros in compensation following a legal case over misleading practices related to Swiss franc mortgages. This settlement was reached with France's leading consumer group, CLCV. BNP Paribas Personal Finance, under its Cetelem brand, was found guilty of concealing risks associated with its Helvet Immo loans, which were issued in Swiss francs but repayable in euros. The value of repayments increased significantly when the euro weakened against the Swiss franc after the 2008 financial crisis. Approximately 4,600 contracts were impacted.
