Wells Fargo to Pay $33 Million Over Marketing Fraud Allegations Wells Fargo has agreed to pay $33 million to settle allegations that it supported two "free trial" marketing schemes which defrauded consumers of $200 million. These schemes were initially addressed in Federal Trade Commission cases against Triangle Media Corp. and Apex Capital Group LLC, settled in 2018.
