DOJ - U.S. Department of Justice

KKR to Pay Record $250M for Antitrust Filing Violations KKR & Co. GP LLC has agreed to pay a record $250 million civil penalty to settle allegations by the U.S. Justice Department that it repeatedly violated the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976. The violations involved failing to comply with premerger filing requirements for at least 16 transactions between 2021 and 2022. This penalty, more than 20 times any prior HSR penalty, underscores the DOJ's commitment to enforcing antitrust laws. KKR, a major global investment firm with over $744 billion in assets, allegedly altered documents and omitted required information in its filings.
