DNB - De Nederlandsche Bank

DNB Fines bunq €2.6M for Anti-Money Laundering Failures De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) has fined bunq B.V. €2.6 million for significant deficiencies in its anti-money laundering controls from January 2021 to May 2022. DNB's examination revealed bunq's failure to adequately monitor high-risk customer transactions, leading to potential undetected financial crimes. Despite previous enforcement actions, bunq has not achieved sustained compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Act. bunq objected to the fine, but DNB declared the objection unfounded. bunq has appealed the decision, and the case may progress to the Trade and Industry Appeals Tribunal if further appeals are lodged.
