The scammers used 149 stolen SendGrid keys and three AWS accounts to send phishing emails, leveraging legitimate infrastructure to avoid detection. The operation included a leaderboard for scammers to compete for prizes, with the most successful earning €3,000. The attackers meticulously built a target list by mapping organizations and filtering potential victims. Victims risk account takeovers and social engineering attacks, while affected businesses face reputational damage and service disruptions due to exposed credentials.
