Citizens and Frost Banks Face Lawsuits Over Data Breach Customers of Citizens Bank and Frost Bank have filed six proposed class action lawsuits, accusing the banks of failing to protect customer data following a breach at an unnamed third-party vendor. Ransomware group Everest claims to have stolen 3.4 million records from Citizens and over 250,000 Social Security numbers from Frost. The lawsuits allege negligence and breach of contract, with some seeking a declaration of inadequate data security. Both banks attribute the breach to the vendor and state their networks were not compromised. Neither bank has filed a cybersecurity incident disclosure with the SEC.
